  • Video Card Temps

Are these normal? I got a asus gtx460sc and I have been watching the temps and they run between 43-62 all the time. If i'm playing poker it will go up to the 60's.

Being a superclocked card will it run higher than normal cards? Is there a way to turn down the way the card runs? TIA.

Those temps are norhingvto worry about. If you want to underclock the card, do and install MSI. Afterburner and do it from there. I'll say this though, your issue sounds more indicative of poor airflow to the card.

I've been researching this and seeing a lot of comments about cards with shrouds causing poor circulations.

No, you have poor case air flow.

even with the side panel off it doesn't do much better, maybe 54C now.

Okay, I got a house fan and got it blowing directly on the video card and cpu. It has dropped maybe 5 degrees. Does that say anything? Doesn't appear there is much I can do besides add another exhaust fan and take off the shroud? Maybe change the fan/temp controls as well. Any other ideas? My house temps are around 72-73. TIA

With MSI Afterburner you can change the fan speed, OC/UC the card.

MSI Afterburner is a handy overclocking utility for MSI graphics cards. Main features include GPU/Shader/Memory clock adjustment, advanced fan speed, and GPU voltage control.

The reference style cards/coolers are fine. Your GPU temps are fine, the CPU is the one I'd be a lil concerned with. You're usin a stock cooler aren't you?

It also depends on the card.... some cards will run hotter than others. My GTX470 usually tops out around 91C. It averages 86C - 89C in blackops. @ Idle its around 56C.
