Not a ton of good news this week for Samsung handset owners awaiting software updates. Just three days after a highly-anticipated, Android 2.2 update began flowing to Epic 4G handsets, the code has pulled from update servers. Citing increased support calls, Sprint is looking to find the root cause of several, pesky problems.

“The issues being reported are related to data connectivity following the upgrade and SD card issues when attempting to access photos, music, etc,” reads a moderator forum post. “If you are experiencing these issues, a hard reset has been reported to resolve the problems.”

Hard reset?! Ouch. No word on who/what is at fault or when the update might be ready to download again.

Amazing that devs can get a leaked copy from december to work fine, but Sprint/Samsung can't get an official copy to work in late Feb.

Hard resets do suck. I have had more issues with this epic than i had with the other one that i rooted ( which, by the way, was my third one!)

Lots of random network error messages
Signal randomly going in and out all day
And this really bugs me. . This phones screen will NOT sleep unless i hit the power button, even then sometimes it will light back up.

Titanium backup your apps and data, make a backup of the titanium backup folder on your comp, then odin back to stock. Restore apps and app data through titanium backup. DO NOT restore system data through titanium backup. reboot, done.

EDIT: fuck it, just check xda-developers.com

He was making fun of IT departments only recommendation being to turn it off and on.

Or he could have been making fun of how everyone who contacts and it/helpdesk department hasn't done the slightest bit of research, or the easiest troubleshooting steps that you shouldn't have to be told to do.

I could call helpdesk and tell them there is a bomb wired to my computer that will go off if i flip the power switch back and forth, and they will still say "have you tried turning it off and then on again"

I didn't realize people were still running 2.1 on their Epics. I've had 2.2 since... what, November or so? Not sure on that timeline. I've got a cooked ROM with 2.2 and haven't looked back.
