  • Virtual computer question

Not sure exactly what I need here but Im hoping someone can help.

I have a software program that I need to run 24/7 and am trying to avoid having to keep my computer on every hour. There is also the issue of outages and things.

What I need is to pay monthly or something for a virtual computer or space where I can download this program, have an IP address and have access to a small harddrive space.

Ive been told consider a virtual private server but Im not sure if it will give me a way to log into a "desktop" and download this program. Ive seen a couple that are command only entry and I think that would be really hard.

Anyone have an idea of what I could look for to do this? thanks

Azure. They will start you off on a $200 credit to see if you like it.

AWS, Azure, Google Cloud... any of those are what you need.

A VPS would work, why are you worried about your computer running? The power requirements are pretty negligible. You would probably spend more money getting a VPS than just using your desktop unless you computer is really fucking old.

Not that I'm biased, or anything, but IBM Cloud, too.

Depending on what you are trying to do a seedbox might be an option.

All of the cloud based services will give you a desktop to logon to. AWS and Azure are the best services IMO. An Azure Basic Windows VM (1core, 750MB, 20GB Storage) runs $0.018 per hour or about $13.14 a month.
