  • Phone guru's, how to unlock AT&T smartphone

Can't figure out how to unlock this old S6 I have. about 1 1/2 years ago, I took it out of service, and switched to Verizon./ Friend needs a phone, but he is on T-Mobile. Gave him my old S6, we tried to use the at&t unlock website, entered the IMEI number, and they say it is not found on their network.

So how the hell do we unlock it? It has not been used for a good 18 months.

    TIA

Did you try turning it off and then back on?

You don't. Android devices are carrier specific. That being said it isn't actually locked. You just have to program in the APN. For TMO that's fast.t-mobile.com

This. Will the carriers still unlock the phone once the contract is up?

That or the device is paid for, which sounds like the case here.
