  • Final Fantasy VII = Money!

So apparently this is the greatest game ever made according to a lot of nerds, which I might very well agree with. I have a used(because I played it) copy, but in great shape Final Fantasy VII. I think I paid $30.00 for it new because it wasn't a new release when I bought it. Now it's going for $100+ on ebay. I know that's not a lot of money, but the value has increased 300%? That's nuts! What's funny is that I have such an emotional attachment to this game that I won't sell it.

Some unopened copies are going for $500. It's nuts. Especially since you can just download the game on the PSNetwork for $10.00.

Yep I wanted to buy a PS1 copy a while back and was shocked when I saw the prices. I love that game but not that much lol. I tried to do it legit and get a retail copy but the prices were just retarded.

I'd say that I'd sell you my copy for a good price, but it would be a lie.

On that note, I need to play it again. It seriously is the best game to ever exist story-wise. This might be the only game that I teared up playing when one of the main characters died. No homo.

It was a good game no doubt. Not worth the hype thats out there now imho. I own a copy of 7. Its the greatest hits version. I own 8 as well and it blew donky balls.

Chorotrigger and chronocross i liked as well.

I actually had 3 copies of that game when it first came out. And till this day is the greatest game I think i've ever played. I have it downloaded on PSN and play it here and there. But you're right the prices are crazy high.

I never got into this series, but am a fan of most RPGs. Are all versions downloadable through the playstation store (aside from the two released on PS3)? If I play, I'd like to start at the beginning, as horrible as the graphics may be lol.

I had to go digging after reading this, and found my ps1 box, I still have ff7, 8 and 9, both Gran Turismos and an original Castlevania SOTN. I knew the Castlevania would be worth dough, but forgot I had the FF7 still. What a score!

well actually there is a small difference. on eBay there will be some cheaper ones and some really expensive ones. the cheaper ones were the ff7 that were released later that was i think like the platinum hits or greatest hits or something, those aren't as much as the originals. you can tell by looking at the actual cds. the front where the names are, i think the greatest hits one, had a mirror finish on it and the original had like a white cover to it.

I have an original copy of Suikoden 2 which is now fetching around $160-200 with the game guide (that I also have).

I have never understood the hype behind FF7. It was good but no where near that great, and I played through it a couple times.

That game was a breakthrough for squaresoft and Sony. It pretty much revolutionized rpgs for Sony. As far as using 3d renderings and streamlining it with 2d was groundbreaking for a gaming console. The game stayed true to basis of a ff series plotline. All the characters had great backgrounds and interesting stories. Once squaresoft became square-enix the storylines were very shitty. I loved ff7 but imo ff3(us version) is the greatest final fantasy in the whole series.

You really don't have to bother starting at the beginning. None of the games have a linked story, it's always a different world, different people, etc etc etc.

I know 7,8,9 are downloadable. Don't know about the rest.
