Looking for some input on this new build I'm planning on putting together. My current desktop is 5-6 years old and is taking a shit on me. I have close to $900 in Amazon gift cards I'm using to buy these components so most of this stuff will come from Amazon.
Current desktop is an AMD FX-8120 octacore processor that's overclocked to 4GHz, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo.
I'm pretty sure the mobo is the cause of my current problems so I decided to go ahead and upgrade.
Current build components:
Intel Core i7 6700K 4GHz processor
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 mobo
32GB Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 (PC4-19200) RAM
MasterCase Maker 5 Mid-Tower Compuer Case with FreeForm Modular System, Upgraded I/O with 3.0 Type C, Magnetic LED Strip, Magnetic Paneling, Sound Supression, and Cooling Bracket
Reusing my 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (EVGA)
238GB Samsung SSD 850 PRO 256GB
Going with some sort of liquid cooling kit.
It should be a pretty nice upgrade over my current build and should run faster than what I have. The 6700K seems to be a fairly stable and performance option.
