    No, all it does is make the data contiguous. Iobit Smart Defrag and Auslogics Disk Defrag will do that as well as move the data to the edges of the platters thus making the data more quickly accessible to the read heads.

    Both are great products, Auslogics has a better/longer established reputation.

    If you're using Win7 or Vista, be sure to disable the scheduled defrag that Windows does every Wednesday.


    I like to set customers machines to defrag every 2 weeks on Sunday @ 12 AM then run a full virus scan every Sunday @ 2 AM.
