Google Cloud for game server

I have been playing ARK the past couple of months and I have moved up to being the admin of the server. The owner forgot to pay the bill yesterday, so I started playing around with Google cloud and successfully setup the VM to run ARK.

Has anyone here done this, and have you compared it to paying a game server hosting site? Also a Linux guy I could ask a few questions would help me a lot.

From what I recall, that game is very memory intensive versus CPU. Could get pricey.

The quoting system said it would be $58 a month at 100% cpu w/ 8.5GB memory. At idle it is at 6% cpu. I'll draft the questions I have in greater detail later.

I am having trouble getting vsftpd installed because of dependencies issues.
