  • Enhance Pointer Precision will not stay off

I just purchased a new G700 (awesome mouse BTW) but was underwhelmed by it at first because the laser had tracking issues.

I narrowed it down to microsoft's built in option of "enhance pointer precision" in the control panel. When I turn it off, the mouse tracks perfectly.

My problem now is it wont stay off. No matter how many times I uncheck it and hit apply and OK, it wont stay off. The next time the computer sleeps or gets shut down, it turns itself back on. Any help?

If it's part of a software package that came w/ the mouse, see if it can be disabled from Ccleaner's startup tab.

      From here http://forums.logitech.com/t5/G-seri...ws/td-p/492364

Did you run the setpoint install as administrator?

Can't remember if I did or not but it'll be worth a try to resolve that C++ issue.

Also, I used to have a G7 before this so perhaps the old setpoint software actually made the OS driver work in harmony with setpoint before I got the G700...

So...I know it seems rediculous but you /could/ try starting with nothing, downloading and installing setpoint 4.8:

      (run as admin)

Configure acceleration / sensitivity (if you can - I don't know if it's possible while using the g700)

      *Reboot*

      Uninstall setpoint 4.8

      *Reboot*

install the G700 setpoint (can't remember the version number)

      (run as admin)

      *reboot*

      -------------------

Sounds like a long shot but I can't understand why mine would be working no problem while you guys are struggling. (I'm also running win7 x64)

And if we can track it down then maybe the logitech coders will have something to work from so that a software update will resolve the issue for all.

      ------------

Aha... something else I have done is set set-point to run as an administrator in the compatibility options.

      i.e. setpointII.exe located at C:\Program files\logitech\SetPointG\

      and also setpoint.exe located at C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetpointP\

Try setting that up, reboot and have a look.

Its not part of setpoint, its part of windows. Its a feature that setpoint actually conflicts with.

TBH, I have no experience w/ it so I was just throwing ideas out there. Did you try what I posted from the logitech forum?

I have a G5 mouse myself for many years now, I never really use the setpoint software but installed it last night because i needed to customize my buttons, anyway I ended up having the same problem as you. Even with OS Implementation enabled, setpoint returns all windows settings to default on restart or any edits in setpoint software (Its supposed to do this apparently). I ended up finding a thread at another forum about this issue which has solved my problem. Enhance pointer precision is windows acceleration function. So enable Mouse Acceleration in setpoint and lower the Pointer speed pretty low and it should have the same "effect" as the default windows settings. Worked wonders for me, it may not be 100% exactly as before, but its damn near close to it. Allows me to move mouse across screen quickly but retain precision clicking and not jumping all over the place.

The settings I have enabled (that feel basically the same as the default windows I had previously) is second lowest Pointer speed, Low Acceleration, and around 900-950 in the advanced mouse speed settings (advanced game settings).

              Hope this helps you !
