I am upgrading my mini ITX motherboard so I can have an m.2 drive, 10gbe network and 6 onboard sata3 ports. The one I have right now supports 4 sata3 and I have a sata3 card for the other 2 drives ( I have 6 in my case ).
I previously upgraded the CPU, but it ran fine for a file server. I bought an I7 4790 to replace the cpu as I use this machine for much more than I originally bought it for ( de-duplication, zfs compression, multiple virtual machines, plex, etc... ). It ran FreeNAS and virtualbox just peachy.
I'd be willing to sell the below for $80, I put the links to where I bought them from.
