  • Anybody good with Android?

Having trouble with my AT&T Galaxy S4 sending, and recieving pics via text message. The dang thing just won't do it. When you try to send one, it just sits there forever with a little blue circle in the bottom corner of the pic. Then that finally times out, and the message turns grey. Then you get a "Message not sent" notification.

On the other side, when people try to send me pics, I just get this weird text, with a "Download" button in it. This does not function. When you hit the download button, you just get a blue bar going across the text message, underneath the download button. It never completes. Finally that will time out as well, and throw an error message. I'm running android version 4.2.2, rooted via towelroot. Baseband version is I337UCUFNC1. Kernel version is 3.4.0-1125940.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? In this day and age, I have to say that its quite annoying. Imagine how boring your phone would be if you couldn't text pics to people. Just got a new boat and couldn't text pics to anyone. Ugh. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. If I need to just wipe this stock AT&T junk and install cyanogenmod, I'd be happy to. But I've looked around, and locating the correct, latest and greatest cyanogen mod for the AT&T United States Samsung Galaxy S4 is somewhat confusing. A link to it would be really appreciated.

Make sure mobile data is turned on. It won't send MMS over Wi-Fi only. Try using the stock S4 messaging app.

Yeah that's what I'm using. I was using a different one but I uninstalled it and switched back to the stock on.

Its somehow related to the wifi though, so its funny you should mention that. I figured out that I can send a pic, if I do it within 30 seconds of the phone booting, with the wifi already turned off before boot. Odd. But after that, having changed nothing, it decides it no longer wants to send pics. I'll take a look at the mobile data setting, thanks

It's all about the mobile data. Gotta keep that shit on like previously said. It's super annoying. I have a cheap AT&T Go-Phone right now, and it seems to get pics on just wi-fi though now. I think it's running 4.4.1? Not sure what version of Android your S4 is running.

Put it on airplane mode, then throw it as hard as you can. Record it's flight time. The data will help me.... research your problem.

4.4.2 lol. Might have to just install 5.something. Or, cyanogenmod. I'm not sure what all they fix on cyanogenmod, but they claim they fix all manner of things that have gone wrong, besides just changing the U.I

I probably won't get a new phone until the s8 is out. I keep phones for as long as humanly possible. Until they're just falling apart in my hands. Glue and duct tape will make it last a little longer then. That's when you know its time to go get a new one. One upside of this, is that your new phone is always super badass! Damn things are so expensive its just not worth it imo

You helped me fix it! Apparently, "mobile data" is also fucking "GPS". I turned that off because I'm one of those people who doesn't think its their business where I'm at.

Thank you for the help. I've looked all over, and only found all manner of other methods that didn't work.

gps and mobile data are two completely different settings. You messed something up playing around with the settings.

Yep, they're two different things. so it looks like you accidentally fixed it.

If it keeps giving you problems you just save all your contacts in your Google account and then do a hard reset.
