I'm right at the very top of level 3, and I've moved past the first few baron missions. Getting my ass kicked by nearly everything. I had full health and was one shotted by the dragon on the witcher scavenger hunt. Absolutely cannot win against the mob at the pillar's house. Not sure what I can do to fix this.

I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. I've played many RTS games, which are usually click click click, cast shit, click click, win. I've tried to the dodging and the controls just fuck me up, I randomly seem to appear in the direction I'm dodging and pretty much all inputs freeze for a moment, then I can start attacking again, usually I end up getting hit during that."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I meant to type RPG. I honestly am struggling with it, it seems far too linear and unresponsive and it's getting on my nerves. It may just be the fact I play FPS games that demand quick and accurate reactions, where in Witcher I tend to have to focus on what the game is doing animation wise in regards to my location, etc. I'm playing to the games limitations and not my own. Most times when I get into a fight it starts with them initiating it. Then I cast a random spell and attempt to turn and run to get some distance. And inevitably and my character completely fucking stops for no reason, and I get bum rushed by another enemy. It seems the game is heavily weighted on (in my opinion) one of it's weakest areas. Generally RPG's don't have the best fluidity with controls, so click fighting and grinding is okay with me. But when you add in this complexity it seems I must have some sort of stat deficiency, because this is way too difficult to enjoy.Last edited by CJ; 05-22-2015, 11:52 PM."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Now on to this game itself. I wasn't really waiting for this one with bated breath, so I went ahead and got it. Have you played the other witcher games? I feel like I can say with some degree of truth, that the dev has never really been good at making games. Their other games are a lot worse about what you're saying. They're no Bethesda, that's for damn sure. And even bethesda has their flaws.
Are you into the older baldur's gate type of games? Apparently that type of game is making a comeback. I've recently played Divinity-Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, and Wasteland 2. All great RPGs. Now I'm waiting on Torment-Tides of NumeneraWH

I've never played a Witcher game until this and a lot of the stuff is pretty overwhelming. (Spoiler) There's a part where you're Ciri and she creates this oil that you put on your sword that is poisonous to werewolves. In that part, I destroyed the werewolf like it was nothing. There was a side quest where a hunter was a werewolf and I couldn't fucking kill him. After running away five times, I looked it up. Burn him and he can't regenerate his health. I think that this game wants you to really get into the lore of the land.Last edited by CJ; 05-23-2015, 09:29 AM."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

Lowered the difficulty and it's a cake walk now. My only thought is the difficult setting I was on was unnecessarily difficult."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

The first one had some hard points where a lot of people would quit. The second I thought was pretty easy, but it might of been the layout I chose. I haven't bought the third, I'll wait till a sale and some patches.
The mechanics of the first two were certainly nothing like a FPS, so I'm interested to see how they compare to the third.
Anyways, currently playing New Vegas and the mechanics for that one makes me want to punch an elephant.

So, I became so accustomed to playing at the higher difficulty, I decided I wanted to fight outside of my current ability level. I found a way into novigrad as a level 3, and I've been mopping up level 18 monsters, which is pretty satisfying. However, it's disappointing that Witcher 3 doesn't use an ability differential multiplier like other RPG's. That kind of sucks. But, I guess the idea is to keep you from leveling too quickly by grinding high rank creatures. Inside the big city at novigrad is a treasure trove of loot, holy crap the amount of stuff I've found is off to charts. Also, one of the best discoveries I've made is a small secret apothecary just northeast of the big city, across the river. He's in a small church. He will sell diamonds/emeralds/etc. for dirt cheap. Most of the merchants will sell emerald dust for 850 or so gold, but he sells for 125.
Here's where I'm at now after about 4 hours in the big city, stealing shit and killing people.
