    Cloud hosted OS platforms have been in existence for a long time and dont require that much power.

    Citrix, Windows CE, Sun, there is a ton of platforms that have been doing it for many decades. Running Windows on a cloud based platform would be awesome as the vast majority of users dont do much with their computer that they dont already do with their phone or tablet.

    The savings for small business of never having to do major overhauls of their platforms would be amazing.

      maybe in terms of IT, but a subscription could end up costing the company more depending on the pricing. There is also the worry of arbitrary obsolescence of hardware by a software company. And the worry of not actually owning the software

        I am familiar with cloud-based OS models and VDI implementation, and that's fine for slimmed-down, standardized operating systems for business use. They're perfect for the business model for the other reasons that you mentioned, as well, but for the standard consumer base it's not a good solution.
