Have you been living under a rock? They've been at this for a few years now. DFW isn't even on the map as far as cities they offer it in.

We had a thesis and published some research on it back in 2013. Many people think they're just doing it to show the major providers people will pay up for the service and that it's economically viable for the big boys to provide it - not that Google wants to get into the business of being a mass provider. Google's been trying for years to lobby the big SPs to make the offering, and always got pushback that it wasn't economically viable. That was a couple years ago.

So they still have it, but you're only going to get 5 down and 1 up. Not too bad for basic internet. I've lived with a lot worse. I used to get 1.5 down and .3 up.

I had a gentleman from Time Warner one time tell me flat out that I lived in the hood and they had no interest in fixing all the busted ass lines and jacked up service in that area. Even though four of us were all running their top tier shit on the block and were less than a mile from Beltline in DeSoto. Guy ran me a T-1 or T-4 line from the box to my house and my service was better but still not great. The line was as big as my damn thumb.
