I'm guilty of this, because they've stopped doing demos like they used to. I buy the shit I like though, even after pirating it. $60 to me is too much to gamble on, and I can't resell it or rent it like a console game.

Fuck, i just spent $40 on Homeworld Remastered and $20 on Resident Evil Remastered. I regret nothing.

I was so close to getting HWR last night. I sunk days into the original. I get what you're saying. There are tons of games I'm not willing to risk $60 on, even though they look decent in the trailers. I've been burned too many times by " game play " trailers.

The real advantage to PC comes in when the consoles start getting older. Skyrim for starters is a huge difference, as is Bioshock Infinite. Here is a comparison of the PS3, 360, and PC for Bioshock.

Curious to find out how the graphics of the PC, PS3 and 360 version of BioShock: Infinite compare? This video is for you.

Big time differences. The huge problem is that consoles can't be upgraded, so late into the systems life, you could be playing on 7+ year old technology.
Its somewhat similar when they are brand new. The PS4 runs the basic equivalent of a GTX 580. Its ALREADY 3 generations old. 3 generations. They just don't compare, and for good reason. If they ever did, you'd have an $1,800 PS4. I know, PC gamer master race.

But I've always had consoles too and always loved em

Was the only one that noticed they limited it to 1080P monitors... Biggest thing with pc's is the higher resolution...

For those of you who want a nice PLS Glossy 1440p on a budget, I bought:

              http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-STAR-DP271...item4d0d1e678e.

Its damn nice. Its a samsung panel. They sell the ones that don't pass their quality control. No dead pixels. Only problem I have with it, is there is some light bleed around the edges that is noticeable on dark screens. But only then. But, if you're willing to tear into it, even that can be repaired with black electrical tape. There is a series of youtube vids on how to do it.

Glossy is the best, matte by definition has to give you washed out colors. And PLS style monitors are known for their much more accurate color reproduction. TN panels are what most people have. I put my PLS next to my samsung LCD 1080p... its a night and day difference when it comes to the colors and the uniformity of the colors. It makes the TN panel look like a lousy movie theater image you'd have seen in the early 2000's. You'll notice color differences you never even knew were there. Even just on this forum.

And for anyone that has a problem with gloss, just control your lighting. Its really not that difficult. The benefit you gain from gloss far outweighs a little time and effort that you have to put in to control your lighting.

The piracy rate for console and PC games has evened out from what I understand. The reason games aren't marketed for PCS is purely that marketing. And that the consoles (usually) have a lower overhead by being able to shave a couple weeks in the engine development and testing due to streamlined hardware of consoles.

One thing that developers and producers have noticed is that PC games provide a longer return on their investments, due to digital download services. while consoles have planned obsolescence and limited returns from the used games market

It isn't marketing. It's support. PC's have thousands of different hardware combinations, causing all kinds of hell on the support side. Making a game for a console is much, much easier. You have 1 identical system, if it runs fine on one, it will run fine on all of them. PC games take a hell of a lot longer to make. Take GTAV for example. Years longer to make, because of all the support required.

Yeah but like he said, digital downloads and sales. Plus there is a big modding community for PC games, that doesn't exist at all on console because it can't. Still to this day I buy games that are old, because they've been "remastered". Take Homeworld 2 for example. Never could get into it, because it came along, and aged before I really got into computer gaming much. Now they've redone it, and I've already bought it. Grim Fandango remastered I couldn't even play at all because I'm not running windows 98. Now it looks a lot better and I've been playing that one as well. This stuff might happen from time to time on consoles, but from what I've seen its a lot more commonplace on PC. Just my .02

Per player you do have a higher return, because you can feed them DLC's, special pay items, etc.. however the money is in the consoles. With the next gen consoles being out, you're going to see a whole bunch of new titles that look great on the PC, but most all of them will be console ports. As for remasters, that's just developers trying to squeeze any extra revenue they can. If they can sell you the same game a second time with a years worth of work from a skeleton dev crew, that's cash in their pocket.

There's 2 remasters on my must have list:
Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7.

                        Someday. . .. . . . just, some fucking day.

That ain't no shit, monkeys roaming the hallways picking at their exposed brains. Oh, heres some highly complicated and stressful circuit you need your full attention to complete, and as an added stress bonus, people can still creep up behind you and smash you with a pipe wrench right in the middle of it at any time.
