      This will never happen.

How many GB or TB of HDD space do you have in it? What is the resolution of the cameras, and how many cameras can it handle? Also how man hours until its filled up? I'd like to build one.

I have two 720p* cameras running 24/7, a weeks worth of video is about 1.2gb per camera.

*the software I run says its "optimized" 720p. I'm guessing it uses some different encoder to make the file size smaller.

Is it safe to assume that if nothing goes on that week, you just delete it and start over? How long do you hold onto your video? And how close do you live to your neighbors? I'd like to have cameras all around my house but one the main ones would need to be right where my neighbor might think I'm spying on him. In trying to be considerate of others, I wouldn't want him to think that.

You can get some pretty inconspicuous cameras...do you not have eaves you can kinda tuck it up under?

I'll probably delete them when I hit 52 weeks. I'm sitting on 11TB and I only use about 4ish. Its your standard size from me and my neighbors, its a regular neighborhood, not gated or anything like that. To be quite honest I really use them mainly for when I order pizza so I can see when the pizza guy gets there.

We don't have a doorbell (poltergeist, another story), so I really installed the cameras to see the front door and I have one in the backyard. I was told once by Richardson PD that I needed to put up signs that I have cameras or I could get a fine for it. Not sure if thats true or not, but I still dont' have any signs up.

My neighbor has a dropcam setup and he has signs up front and in the back.
