    Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Product Key

    I restored a Surface Pro 2 with the image directly from MS and now it will not activate. Called MS and they say even with the Installation ID they can not help me activate it. Was going to see if anyone had a product key they were interested in selling before I purchase one from Ebay...

    I've called MS before and told them I had to reinstall windows with a friends CD because the computer didn't come with one when I bought it and that I had no key listed on any paperwork. They've always walked me through activation without any questions.

      That is what I have done in the past as well. You give them the Install ID and they give you a confirmation code. According to them they could not confirm the install. I just purchased a Key from Ebay for $26 and it worked...

        I use legit keys to activate Windows.

                    If you are really needing it, my wife can get discounted software due to her Student status. I just bought Windows 8.1 Pro X64 (prompty added classic start menu back) for only $69.99 + tax.

                    Beats a risky key on eBay. Normal price is $169.99.

                      Look and see if there is a BIOS update for your device. We get a lot of Windows 8 machines that when using a windows 8 installation disc or flash drive the installer will not read the embedded windows 8 license key from the BIOS. 90% of the time a BIOS update fixes the issue.

                      You can also use a program called WOLF that can read the embedded serial number in your BIOS. Once installed, click on the SOFTWARE tab and then click on the BIOS tab
