My new problem is this is so dang tempting, great reviews, half the price of TV even when you add in a screen....just have to figure out how high to mount it etc and get it aligned up between two ceiling fans....and an IR repeater...

My BenQ W1070 is listing for $699 and it's an amazing projector.

I say go for it man. You won't regret it.

I was blown away by how cheap some 1080P projectors were!

Your benQ how is it on bright days? 1080P actually comparable to a screen and bluray player?

It's very bright during the day.

            Blu-ray looks vivid and bright.
            UVerse is bright.
PC is dimmer, but likely due to a setting in the pc itself.

I've never had a problem with fan noise. We use it everyday, have just under 2500 lamp hours in 1 year. It's a champ.

On Blu-ray, yes. UVerse is pretty damn close.

as much as I love my projector, I would never consider it as a daily display

This room actually has quite a bit of ambient light. My camera is flushing it out.

They're actually behind the screen. Other than that, no.

Projection is all about the screen. My SI screen looks just as good as a plasma. It's like any tv though if direct sunlight hits it, it will wash out some. Even then still watchable.

With all due respect, projection is much more than just the screen.

                                Ambient light
                                lumen
                                throw distance
                                seating distance
                                screen

all should be considered especially if you plan on using it as a primary display
