  • Galaxy S5 or S5 active?

Which of these devices have you choosen, why, and do you like it?

I still have a s3. I am pretty good about not dropping my phone, all the features i want I think the s5 has. I do like the activity hub button on the s5 active and the extra protection for just in case durability. My wife just a s5 active and it seems massive with the built on case....but...i dunno?!?!?

I chose the active because it has buttons.

Are you on AT&T? I would get the OnePlus One or Nexus 6, if I were on AT&T. I don't have the OnePlus One option because I'm on Verizon, and the Nexus 6 didn't launch until after I bought my S5. I'm super happy with the S5 so far, after installing the Google launcher instead of the TouchWiz launcher, but after messing with a OnePlus One and Nexus 6, it's absolutely apparent that the Samsung phones are loaded down with all kinds of crap I will never use that just eats up space.

Although I love the "plain jane" Android experinece on both my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, I hate the lack of a user replaceable battery and lack of memory expandability. Although I still own the Nexus 7, I sold my Nexus 5 because of that. I guess one feature that might get me back to a Nexus phone would be the turbocharger. Not sure how well it works in real world use but that would sure be nice to have had on my Nexus 5 when I needed a boost to keep me going a little longer.

My recommendation, get the Galaxy S5 over the active. It always seems that the mainstream device have better support and better accessories.

5.96", yeah. The OnePlus One's is 5.5", which is why I thought you didn't mind the size of the screen. The S5 has a 5.1" screen.

It does not necessarily push me away, but somewhere in that 5"+ area is my screen enjoyment limits versus pocket trouble dilemma in my mind

If you cannot get a phone discounted through new contract, get the oneplue one. I still love mine, and for 300 bucks for a new phone, its amazing.

The hate for Samsung is because of the TouchWiz launcher/overlay they put on top of Android. It is a little better on the S5 than it was on the previous generations, but it still bloats the phone down with all kinds of shit that most people will never want or need.
