iOS 4.2.1 unteathered jailbreak is out

it's out for windows now...i just did it, and it works great. i jailbroke right over my tethered redsnow jailbreak...though it does say to install a fresh 4.2.1 firmware if you used the monte jb... i'm on an iphone 4, btw.

Ok.... I'm either trashed because of the super bowl party or this just isn't my day. Either way I'm failing at jb'n my ipod. I have the greenpois0n.exe, I seem to be following the directions but I just cant' get the verbose boot screen up.... Any help?

  1. plug the device to your computer using the USB cable
  2. quit iTunes if it shows up
  3. start greenpois0n.app
  4. follow instructions
  5. the device will boot a 1st time with verbose text on screen. This operation will install the jailbreak on the device.
  6. the device will reboot normally
  7. start the Loader application (green icon on the SpringBoard), and follow instructions to install Cydia

  1. try to start greenpois0n from a terminal : sudo ./<path to greenpois0n.app>/Contents/MacOS/greenpois0n
     It'll give you more informations on the reason of the problem

redsnow works on 4.2.1?

i used redsnow 0.9.6b4 to jailbreak my iphone 4 and my daughter's iphone 3gs (old bootrom)... it's a tethered jailbreak for the iphone 4 and 3gs with new bootrom, but untethered for everything else. of course, the new greenpois0n is untethered for everything on 4.2.1.

aren't you on 3.1.2...seems like i remember that you said you were. if so, you should have the blackra1n loader; just re-install cydia through that. if not, just download 4.2.1 and upgrade to that...be careful about just clicking "update" in itunes, as i believe that 4.3 is out, and there isn't a jailbreak for it, yet.

yep..still on 3.1.2...I forgot I still had it,but I went and tried to install cydia and it still didn't work. Gonna spend some time googling for a fix. Don't want to update it at all.



Edit...just found a clip..had to go into ifiles and delete a lot of old and corrupted files when I closed cydia during install. Back in it now refreshing everything.....whewwww.
