  • Too much laptop for me?

I just purchased a new laptop. I was fed up with my old one having the lack of battery power and also freezing up on me when having various windows/programs open. Walked into Best Buy on Sunday and walked out with a laptop that cost me $1400 (with warranty). I use it for my small business and also personal. I usually have about 3-4 programs running at once, Quickbooks, Estimating software, saving pictures, and Excel. Of course, Ill have pandora running and surfing the web.

    Here is what I purchased.

I currently have an external 500GB harddrive that I use to save and back up all my documents on. I was thinking about maybe returning this billy bad ass laptop and getting something a bit so not on the overkill side. I was thinking of staying with Asus, same RAM, i5, smaller screen, and 750GM not this 1TB.

The guy at Best Buy was telling me the laptop i purchased is overkill for me, says I would be fine with the $699 one and That I wont see the difference on i5 to i7 unless I am gaming, which i don't do at all. I have the 500GB external hard drive, so there shouldn't be an issue on slowing my laptop down if i save all my stuff on there. So, did I make a buy and purchase a laptop that is way to overkill for me and for what I do and I should get the smaller one?

Yes, that's way overkill for what you're doing. You could get away with an i3 for that matter, but having an i5 will "future proof" you longer than the former.

Have any links to laptops at Bestbuy that I should look into?

I just dont plan to buy another laptop till another 4+ years. My old laptop is a Gateway NV5468u

      Intel Pentium T4400 2.2 GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HDD 15.6 HD, and windows 7.

Can I make that laptop better? When I had it at the shop, and had it on sleep or hibernate when I would wake it up it would take a long time to load up.

Not that I am of any help, but I have this model. I do not remember the price I paid off hand. So far this laptop has handled all of my needs as field work, personal, slight gaming, and just whatever. Battery life is quiet good compared to the laptops and personal devices I have had in the past.

I think that little 2 in 1 is pretty cool. Would probably do just about everything you'd need to do and still have "power" left over.

If you're cool with the price then that laptop will last for you a while. If not, then I'd take it back and get an i3 or i5

Id prefer that one over the 2 in 1. I can see the benefit about it flipping over like a tablet, and would come in handy when looking at a vehicle and writing an estimate or locating parts. But, to me it seems as the flip laptop will get wore out or have a defect on the swivel that flips it over. For almost exact price id get yours, and have the spare 250GB.
