I has an Apple for years, now I'm going on my third year using Android. Now these damn cortana ad's are making me wonder what it would be like to own a phone that runs a Microsoft OS. So far all I see are bad reviews for the devices. How do you like it?

If you just want to text, call, and browse internet you can't beat a windows phone. I even switched over to a windows surface to replace my iPad. I went from having to buy a new iPhone every year and I picked up a Nokia Lumia 900 and had it for 2.5 before I got my 1020 as a gift. My 900 would have easily gotten another year or so. It is fast and it does what it is supposed to. I've never had any of the problems people complain about with other phones and my 1020 has a friggin 40mp camera and gorilla glass. It is pretty hard to break the screen on these things.2012 GT500

I had a Lumia Icon for a weekend. It took great photos and could text as well as surf the web but trying to find apps to do tasks most Android phones do by default was absolutely impossible. Like launching Waze when it connects to bluetooth, which seems pretty simple but there weren't any apps for auto launching anything. There wasn't any way to have the ringer and wifi toggle based on location either, something Android can do on it's own.
As long as you don't use apps they are a good option.

They're solid, basic phones.
Not for power users or people who want a lot of options and customization.
When I see someone with a windows phone, I instantly know they are 1. Not tech savvy at all, 2. Using a phone that their company pays for, or 3. trying something new and will be back to Android/iOs pretty soon.sigpic

I'll never go back to an iPhone...they are the most over-rated, over-hyped phone I can think of. I've never had an android, but the thought of jail-breaking a phone just to customize it never interested me.
I also wouldn't say Windows Phone users are not tech savy....I'd say they just don't care about all that useless bullshit. I have the Nokia Lumia 1520 and had the Lumia 920 before this one. I love it, but then I've always been a PC guy. I've only run into a few apps that I wish Windows had but they were just "nice to have's" and not "have to have's". As far as using it for work, it integrates well with how Outlook 2013, Lync, and One Note works. Nokia has a few nice proprietary apps for navigation and such. Cortana worked fine the few times I've used it. I linked it via Bluetooth to our car and didn't have any issues.
And the best part......no freaking iTunes and the daily updates that require a reboot! That was the driving factor to move away from iPhone.
