  • More projector/screen questions...

I am going to purchase an HD 2000+ lumens projector and screen for outdoor use to have LSU football watching parties. Can someone recommend a projector and appropriate screen size? I have looked a several online but many of you on here have experience with these things and I do not.
A friend has some very nice karaoke speakers/amp setup that I will use for sound and I plan on tying into my Direct TV for the video. I assume that I can use HDMI to connect the projector to the Direct TV console. I would want at least a 120" screen.
I dont really want to spend a ton on this if I dont have to. Thanks in advance.

I always recommend the epson 8350. You used to be able to get refurb ones with an extra bulb warranty for 800. Not sure what your budget is. On the screen since its outdoors do you have a place to mount it up? You can use the regular screens and put some wide gutters on top to turn them into outdoor one.

Or use a bedsheet but with the wind it will look like shit.

Outdoor screens that come ready to go outside run in the couple hundred dollar range as well. Whats your budget?

Dave, I just had to upgrade the unit at the house. The boys were watching TV/XBOX on a textured white wall, so I decided to fix it. I bought this projector:

I then applied joint compound to the wall and sanded it smooth before painting it. They now have full 1080p with great color and brightness. If my phone will ever start working again, I'll text you a picture. I think the screen is right at 100" diagonal right now.

Dont really have a budget, but I dont want to spend more than I need to in order to have a really good picture. I am probably getting this screen....

And I am considering this projector...but I am open to other suggestions as above.

I ended up getting the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5020UBe projector and the Camp Chef 144" screen. A friend sold me his karaoke speakers/receiver/amp. I plan on connecting this to my DirectTV for LSU football parties...first one is Sat.

            Hope it doesnt rain!!
