I have 2x 2GB DDR2 1000 and I want to add another 4GB (2x2) to it, do I have to get DDR2 1000 or can I get another speed? That setup is hard to come by on newegg

What other memory can I use?

You should be able to use anything up to the same speed. If you purchased faster memory, it will only be as fast as the slowest in the system.
Also, mixing brands can cause issues. Not always but probable, especially if you're OC'in it.
What speeds do your MOBO and CPU support? I have 2x512 DDR2 1000 that I can't use, so you're welcome to it if you'd like.

If you plan on it, I'd just buy a matched set of whatever speed and quantity you're wanting. ATM, Fry's has some Kingston Hyper X 1066 @ 2Gigs for 87 out the door.
Or if you don't mind MIR, Micircenter has the same qty of OCZ Platinum for 69 after MIR.
If you can wait, either of these would be choice.

DDR2 800 is the mid range speed that board supports. It supports all the way up to 1200. You won't see a big difference between what you have and 1200 but 8-1200 qould be noticeable.
Since you'll be OC'ing, I'd get matched set memory. IF you want 8Gigs, then get eother of these.

Just know, OC'ing w/ that much memory will be difficult since it put's a lot of stress on the mobo.
What do you do that requires so much RAM?

OK, you're not gonna see much, if any, improvement w/ more ram. That Q7600 is holding you back BAD.
The the coming months, AMD is planning to launch a series of quad-core and triple-core processors to strengthen the company's hold on the sub-$200, even sub-$150 market segment. Intel is reportedly planning a rival lineup of quad-core processors to counter AMD in the segmet. While the Core 2 Quad Q8...
That's a very low cache processor and rather weak for a quad. I'd hold off on more ram and pick up a Q6600 if you can swing it.
What's your budget or what are you willing to spend to make your puter run better? A 6600 w/ a good cooler like yours is capable of stable high 3Ghz OC's.
