Question on MagicJack

I've had a Magic Jack for almost a year, and it's about to expire if I don't renew it.

While looking at my MJ account, I wanted to add a vanity number and it was available so I added it.

Question: Do I need need to renew my MJ device to keep the MJ service(and the vanity number with it)?
OR did the addition of my vanity number cover the MJ subscription with it?

Okay, I RTFM'd and it looks like the Magic Jack service will still need to be renewed.
The vanity number is just an addition to the standard service.

Why not just use google voice with a jack system?
