I've got four VDI related papers submitted for VMworld. I'm dead on certain that at least one will be picked up. It was for the Horizon View design and deployment I was a part of for the Buffalo Public School system. 36000 seat deployment.

Kinda irritates me when I'm making trips like the one I'm doing this week. Have to setup a 100 seat proof of concept. At least it will be my first deployment with VSAN. It'll also be the first time I use Horizon Mirage on a customers VDI deployment.

I'm also beta testing Horizon 6 and the next version of vSphere right now. Some really cool stuff coming from VMware this year.

It's been a crazy year and it's only gonna get crazier with the next round of layoffs Meg announced.

I'm still pretty new at the VDI game. I have an environment set up for off site employees in Houston and am currently setting up another that will be just for IT users with elevated privilege accounts. We're using them as PoC basically, to pitch the idea to our parent company as well. Currently, there are only a few hundred users, but it has the potential to grow to over 100k if it gets deployed everywhere.

Our team leader was just "stolen" away by VMware, so he's helping keep me abreast of all the new stuff coming down the pipe. Horizon 6 is going to rock. We upped our ELA this year to basically include everything, so my team is looking forward to getting to play with the cool toys

Do yourself a favor and do not rely on PoC's alone. Do a full assessment of the EUC environment. You'll find that PoC's never answer all the questions and can leave your final design lacking.

I use Systrack from Lakeside software but I also like Stratusphere from Liquidware labs. LWL will sometimes bundle licenses. If you buy Profile Unity with Flexapp, they'll throw in Stratusphere for assessment and support. Good stuff..

Thanks for the tips guys. I am pretty new to VMware myself and I have never really played around with the core vs cpu combinations. I'll have to check out vcop.

If you are running backups from just one backup application, how would you stagger the jobs?
