I got frustrated with having problems streaming certain AVCHD and Bluray .iso files from my media server. Therefore, I finally made the necessary upgrades for Gigabit LAN. I am using the supplied Rev. I FiOS router.
It's impressive and a bit amusing at the same time when your SSD drive(s) become the bottleneck.
My only weak link is I don't have a ethernet drops at every location. I just have a cable TV jack in the living room, so I'm using a Actiontec MoCA to Ethernet adapter + 5 port switch to feed the gear I have in there. The FiOS router is currently a MoCA 1.1 spec, which limits my speed to 175Mbps on that link. Yet, going through cable to the router is still faster than "Fast Ethernet" spec.
Here's quick screenshot. From laptop to server across the house.
