I got my Galaxy S5 the other day and love it so far. Coming from an iPhone 4s it is a huge step up. Still getting used to the way all the apps work and the "admin rights" stuff. Is there anything that is a must do on this phone? I haven't really read into it much but is there any benefit to unlocking/rooting this phone for any must have features?

I like my iPhone 5 more than my S4. It just works a hell of a lot better. The Samsung is glitchy. Iphone battery lasts a lot longer. I do love the larger screen on the S4. In fact, that alone is just about enough to make me like the Samsung better.

Avoid cheap chargers. I ordered two cheap on Amazon for the S4. One broke the first time I used it and the other wouldn't charge the phone at all.

SwiftKey is the best app ever. The native keyboard on the Samsung is shit.

Dammit Israel! I picked one up last night. I just couldn't justify the iphone 5 after messing with the samsung and the note didn't really make sense.

Interesting change in platform after having an iphone for years.

I'm not sure what you mean. Older versions of Android weren't as aesthetically pleasing, but KK is titties.

I'm also considering getting an S5 or an HTC One. I was talking to a computer geek in my office about it and he said there was a problem with people hacking into the Android phones. He said he had an S3 or 4 and that it got hacked several times. I asked him WTF that meant and he said he looked at his phone one day and various apps were being opened and he saw the hacker going through, and presumably reading, his email. He said he shut it off, waited and powered it up again and it was fine, but that if he hadn't turned it off that the hacker could have stolen any info he had on his phone. He keeps some of his clients' confidential info & docs on his phone sometimes so that was a huge issue to him so he went back to an iPhone. I don't keep anything remotely confidential on my phone, but I'm curious about this whole hacking issue because I didn't even know that was possible.

Have any of y'all had that happen or know anything about the topic?

You type about as well as my six-year-old niece. That's the dumbest comment I have heard anyone make in the history of the iOS vs Android debate.

If someone hacked into your phone they wouldn't be casually browsing files through the UI. They'd probably lock it and send you an e-mail demanding ransom.

                                Water resistant....

Sony makes the only phones that I know are waterproof up to 3 ft for 20 mins or so.

Use that samsung underwater and it will void warranty.
