Nope, its $199 with upgrade or new customers. Radioshack and Costco will be selling them on Tuesday for $150 though which is better than my employee price.

As far as your plan, if you have unlimited now then I suggest just picking it up and then calling ATT and raising hell. I know for a fact that they have a memo talking about the new 4G unlimited plan for prior unlimited customers. Raise enough hell and escalate enough and you can get just about anything lol.

Worse case you have 30 days to return the phone.

I'm going to go ahead and order it... might as well. Even if they end up fucking me out of the unlimited, I think they are going to have to bring it back to be competitive with Sprint.

If you don't plan on modding it much, it will be fine. Motorola started locking bootloaders since the droid x so it's harder to mod them how you want, pretty gay IMO.

The atrix was rooted last night and so far they thing the bootloader is just locked and not encrypted. No final word yet but the dev's on XDA seem to be cracking it open pretty quick!

Either way, I just need root so I can get tethering and hopefully sideloading enabled. I dont need a custom ROM but it would be nice to have the option. Of course, I have never messed with motoblur and most people arent crazy about it.

*MOD EDIT* FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS USE OLD INSTRUCTIONS. Go check the sticky for another guide, as this method is not recommended!!! Thanks to Getaphixx, the guy who dumped the phone, for testing this out for me! He has the worlds first...

no clue to tell you the truth, Im used to my Nexus One that had no problems sideloading. My biggest deal was tethering but from what I have read there are a few ways around the sideloading but rooting would have been the easiest overall I believe. No need for 3rd party apps. I think you can also ABD install them too using the dev tool. I have never tried that though.

I also just read that the fucking phone checks your tethering plan anytime you try to run the webapp and arent on wifi. Hopefully rooting fixes that crap too.

FWIW, that's what I used to sideload on the stock Aria ROM. I'd be worth a shot to try it.

They tried that in some froyo updates, too. It would check the plan then connect, that step got removed in custom roms.

I have emails from a Motorola rep and an AT&T store manager that I can hook up a Atrix either with an HD Multimedia dock, or just an HD cable and use the webapp with my grandfathered unlimited plan. ONLY when using the lapdock will I have to get the tethering plan.

Yep thats true but you can also even use the laptop dock as long as you are on wifi without a tethering plan.

I fail to see why anyone would want the laptop dock though? for $300(or 500) you can get a decent laptop that can do much more, and just tether through the phone.

Yeah I agree, at $150 I was thinking about it but no way at $300 and especially $500.

Im hoping a 3rd party laptop dock will be available.

Off topic a lil, but does anyone know of a screen recording app?

video recording or screen shot? No clue on video but I use Screenshot by Gik Soft. Requires root though.

Yeah, screen recording. I use Shoot Me for SS.
