  • Graphics card question

The PC my boys play games on is a HP Envy (h8-1414) that has 10GB DDR3, AMD FX-6120 (3.5GHz) and runs Windows 8. The graphics card in it is a AMD Radeon HD 7450 (1GB DDR3 dedicated). I just so happen to have an MSI Afterburner Radeon HD 7790 OC Edition (1GB DDR5) (http://us.msi.com/product/vga/R77901GD5OC.html card that I can put in there, but before I do that I thought I would ask you gurus whether it's even worth doing/whether it would be a noticeable difference. My kids mostly play games on Steam, but my youngest will occasionally play stuff like Roblox, Club Penguin, etc.

Based on what I have and what it's used for, will the Afterburner make a noticeable difference?

    TYIA!

Don't know about the afterburner thing but going from a DD3 card to a DDR5 card will be a huge jump in performance. More cores, faster RAM, means a better performing card.

Msi is just the over clocking monitor program. The DDR5 memory will be better and you will get some gains but it won't be a night and day difference.

7790 will be a much better card than the 7450.

Run both with a performance tester and see for yourself if its worth it.
