I think their rule is as long as it turns on under battery power then it's good condition. They have pretty good value on trade ins. They'll also price match almost anyone.

Ok, Ive waited long enough to ask again, and Id like to hear something (anything?) about the S5. I see they have an s5 active option as well. I know that people hated the s4 active, so im leery.

          Any new options to consider?

In the past year Ive used the nexus 5, note 2, note 3, iphone 5S, galaxy s4, and galaxy s5. I will say, I like the galaxy s5 the best. My second would be the galaxy s4

The Amazon Fire phone looks pretty cool and you get a free year of Prime when you purchase it.

Screw the Amazon phone, but I'm not an AT&Greed subscriber anymore anyhow. The whole carrier exclusivity thing is dumb, but being locked into one ecosystem that's several iterations behind on app updates and isn't as versatile as the OS' native market is the death nell imo.

The Amazon phone and Fire tablets are based on Android, but have Google services stripped out of them and are heavily modified. If you're already heavily invested in Amz, it may be a good deal for you, but their lagging app updates and limitation of ONLY Amz app store turn me off.

Then there's the carrier exclusivity thing...

Ended up picking up an S5 active last night. I was dead set on the moto x, mostly due to size and simplicity, but I got shut down when I found that it didnt have a memory card slot. Im not a huge fan of all the bullshit that i'll never use on the s5a, but liked that it is water resistant.

Thanks for all the help and recommendations, gents.

Well the regular S5 is supposedly water resistant as well with an IP67 rating.

The S5 Active adds the MIL STD 810G which makes it more rugged with more robust buttons. I also believe the body itself is a little bulkier.

I chose the active mostly because it has a pretty stout looking case, some texture to it to grip, and actual, real pushable buttons.
