    One can definitely come in handy from time to time. I would call them solely so I didn't have to go through Tier 1 and Tier 2 to get to someone who knows WTF I'm talking about. I don't have time to waste with a Tier 1 who wants me to reboot my router and a Tier 2 who wants me to renew my IP and clear my DNS cache.

          Exactly, plus not send a tech that is going to run a speed test then say your connection is good.

            I'm having the exact same problems as you. I have 15 hops to 8.8.8.8. Fucking annoying as hell.

                  Update: They did something, when I run a continuous ping to 74.125.48.65 (first hop outside of TWCs network. The ms still spikes but only to 200-500 on average, but I still get an occasional timeout. I still have a ton of hops to get outside, but my game play was not affected. I should be getting a call today, or tomorrow about it.

                    No, it isn't. I haven't been happy with Uverse since we moved. They had to do some witch craft to get it to even work at our address. Maybe after my contract is up I will give Fios or Charter a shot.

                      You gotta ask before they install, if fiber is going to be demarc'd at your house. A lot of the time its fiber to a central location for a neighborhood then converts to cable/phone line.
