    Htpc

    I'm looking to build a fairly cheap home theatre PC. It doesn't need to do much other than transcode/display content in 1080p and I will probably run Windows 7. It may get on the intenets occasionally, but never any games or anything serious. I have a NAS for storage (5TB PrON). Any obvious conflict, issues, review for the below?

      Not a bad parts list, but you're going to want to step up on the processor. You'll most likely be disappointed.

      I'm doing the same thing with a budget built AMD (A8 3800 APU) desktop using PLEX media server. On the fly transcoding seems to be working fairly error free on most devices. It's not always going to be a perfect outcome because there are just too many variables in dealing with different devices.

        So jumping up to something like a quad core is worth the extra $60?
