im trying to connect my laptop to my LCD with a VGA to HDMI cable. i can't seem to get it to connect and display anything on the t.v. i have windows 7 64bit. i have been looking in the display settings and messing with the display on multiple displays and it's not working. i have changed the display to #2 display on vga, and it doesn't work. it's really driving me crazy and not sure what else to do. i even tried the connect to projector setting. i tried restarting and everything that i can think of. where else should i look?

A straight VGA to HDMI cable will not work for what you are attempting to do. They are 2 different signal types (digital vs analog). You will need a converter to get a picture.
Monoprice has decent ones pretty cheap. We use these on our clients DVR's that are VGA out only.

Also, did you look at updating your drivers? What kind of video card does it have? Integrated graphics or dedicated graphics?Comment
