    Wireless router suggestions

    Finally going to bite the bullet and upgrade. My son's ip camera barely gets a signal from my old netgear. I have a large house and right now have 2 routers setup but still get a lot of drops. Looking at the Asus and netgear ac routers (so I won't have to upgrade as soon later) and get totally different reviews for each product. Looking for some real life experience and my main goal is distance and reliability, not as much fastest speed as most my stuff is hardwired. Most of my stuff is n now.

    I also have a Boston acoustic soundbar in my bedroom that uses wifi for the sub and kills my current setup so hoping going to 5ghz will help that.

    think I'll go ahead and go AC just to be up with it when it comes around. looking at the Asus AC66U (or 68) and the netgear r7000. anyone used either or have opinions on either of these?

        I love those Asus routers. Awesome signal strength and extremely configurable (easily configured too)

          I've got a Buffalo WZR-600DHP which uses DD-WRT. The only downside is that it doesn't have 802.1ac wireless. Beyond that it has been perfect for me. Definitely better than my Verizon router and the VPN connectivity has been spot on perfect.

          My only suggestion beyond this router is to get one with DD-WRT. It just makes to much sense. Unfortunately Buffalo doesn't yet make an AC wireless router that has DD-WRT.

            Thanks for the info. I have dd-wrt now on a setup now and like it a lot. Since its just in the house I just want something that works good and stays connected. Sounds like either way will take care of me.

              Wow...that R6300 has some impressive features. I have been milking my Dlink DIR-615 along for the past couple of years, but it continually drops packets for no reason.

              Might be able to get it on sale during BF

                Got an old linksys from a garage sale. Learned what the "N" stands for and why you need it! It'll be short range unless you get a wireless N router
