Man, I thought my 3x80mm and 7x120mm was a lot. You win the fan count score. I bet it sounds like a shuttle on takeoff, I know mine do.

I've gotten so accustomed tot he sound that when it's off, the house sounds funny.

holy shit that's a ton of fans.

I think i've hit a wall (seems common) at 4.5, takes 1.45 to boot into windows @ 4.5ghz or above. I'm gonna test another cpu this weekend and see what I can get.

edit: I still have the following for sale, not sure what I want for it. but make an offer if you have any interest. worse case scenario, i'm gonna buy a spare case/psu/gpu and this will be a backup rig.

        evga x58 sli
intel x5650 (i was able to reach 4.4ghz, but ran at 4.2ghz 24/7 for years)
        12gb ddr3 gskill ripjaws
        noctua dh-n14 cpu cooler
Yea let me know. I'm at 1.33v and 4.3ghz. Not sure how far I need or should push it.

What kind of temps are you running? I had to replace the MB and I7 yesterday.... One was faulty and caused the MB to throw unknown codes un till my GPU's didnt sync at all.

Anyway, I have the h100i too and notice that even under load, it stays very cool to the touch. I remember my smaller cooler would get hot. I do have dual 140mm 3000 rpm fans on it on full at all times though.

the old i7 wouldn't boot into windows at 4.3 without a 1.38+vcore, this one is stable at 1.25v core 4.3ghz. I guess they are just all different...

I need to find a less harsh stress testing program, I think prime 95 is too much for what I do.

well i can run it. Now its 4.3g@1.25v and temps haven't gone over 80 degrees at the cpu. Gaming they barley reach 65.

After 4-5 motherboards and 3 processors I'm going to have to go with the human error factor. Thank god for microcenter warranty. They will basically exchange anything.

I haven't had time to test another proc, but so far i'm still at 4.4ghz @ 1.30 with ram at 2133mhz. overall im pretty happy, both 680's run at pcie 3.0 x16 and I have enough bandwidth to drive my fusion io at full speed. 40 pcie lanes is great.

i'm pretty happy despite only getting 1ghz overclock. this cpu doesn't scale to high at near stock volts and to push it higher it requires more vcore than i'm willing to use. still haven't found a buyer for my old stuff but i've been thinking to just throw it in a case and build it out over the next few months.

those 4770k's can clock high, i'm sure you can get another 200mhz outta it at 1.35 or less. You can pay intel $15 or $25 dollars to insure your cpu, its their overclockers insurance.

there were no profiles in the software, I created my own fan profiles for it. it stays cool, i just don't trust it. I have to test fit the dhn14, because i don't know if it'll clear the ram height. If it doesn't, i'll be stuck with the h100i.
