Scored a free 4930k today so i'm going to pick up some ram and a board tonight.

Curious if there is any interest in an evga x58, intel x5650, 12gb ddr3 1600, and noctua dh-12.

With r290x launch nda lifting, I will probably go with that so I will have some 680's for sale (oc's to 1200 on the core).

Long shot I know, but i'm curious if there is anyone interested here before I part out online.

For the mobo/ram/cooler/proc. Maybe $400? I don't know what the market is on parts now, so i'll have to adjust my prices when I see what shit is worth.

heh not yet, just a 4930k. figure I might as well use it. One of the reasons I didn't upgrade to SB or Haswell in the past was no six-cores avail. Now that I got one, I might as well, even though 2011/1150 is somewhat dead now.

That's the fast single gpu out right now, faster than titans when overclocked. There is nothing faster right now (single gpu wise).

A 680 is basically a 770, but I need more vram than 2GB. That's why i'm hoping for r290x to be very impressive.

IF r290x isn't that much faster than titan or 780's and is less than 550 that I will bite. If it isn't, I'm gonna try and find a similar 680 and go tri-sli.

I'm going with Asus P9X79 PRO for the board, 4930k for the proc, need to figure out cooling, and for ram i'm going with 32gb of 2133. Still looking for documentation that the board can cut it. I'm shooting for 5ghz to be honest, or as close as I can get.

I've got a couple of 4930k's (3 total) to play with so i'm going to cherry pick one that will work for me.

only at 4.4ghz right no (1.3vcore), still need to test for higher clocks. cooler is temporary until my lga2011 mounting kit comes in for my dhn14.

only tested stability last night, haven't played any games yet.

Nice we were doing the same thing. I got mine up to 4.3 and was like fuck it. Who needs higher for games. As far as playability goes, I use crysis 3 to torture text.. I went from bogging down 20-40 fps through the 3 screens to holding 70-90. Big difference.

Gained about 1k in benchmarks and I'm not even close to maxing it. I'm sure your 6 core will do great.

Unfortunately, in single threaded apps the 4930k gets beat by the 4770k. But multi-threaded is where this shines. Hopefully I can squeeze another 200mhz out of this. I don't really know where the limit of this proc is, and i'm about as close to the highest vcore I want to use. I still want to keep the ram as close to 2133mhz when oc'ing as well./

I'm installing games now, arma 3, portal 2 (hah), crysis 3, tomb raider, splinter cell blacklist, and i'm gonna see what else my library has.

Did some cooling mods today. It really helped out. I7 4770 h100i set up.

holy shit that's a ton of fans.

I think i've hit a wall (seems common) at 4.5, takes 1.45 to boot into windows @ 4.5ghz or above. I'm gonna test another cpu this weekend and see what I can get.

edit: I still have the following for sale, not sure what I want for it. but make an offer if you have any interest. worse case scenario, i'm gonna buy a spare case/psu/gpu and this will be a backup rig.
