I am looking for a good site for directions and easiest way to update my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. Right now it is running on.
Android Version 2.3.6
Kernel Version 2.6.35.11
I need to bring it up to date. To at least 4.0.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or better.
I have to do it all over wifi and the internet and not a cellular service provider.
Already downloaded, used and saved to my external:
SMS Backup & restore
Call logs backup & restore
APM settings back & restore
Is there a good contacts backup & restore I can use?Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

The volume buttons scroll, power button executes the function.

Let me know if you want me to post links for Rooting your phone from the XDA-Developers website.

I did the contact sync backup with Google. So I figured it out.
The phone is an AT&T carrier Galaxy SII but I can't use their service here in afg. I have it on plane mode and wifi enabled then hooked to decent internet here in my office.
I downloaded the Samsung KIES to my laptop and hooked the phone to USB and enabled. But am stumped where it tells me to drop the .zif into the root menu. I don't know what the root menu is.
I am still on the 2.3.2 software.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I'm not sure about the .ZIF file you are talking about? Here is the article I went by when I upgraded mine to Jellybean. Let me know if you have any questions. It should be pretty straight forward.
And here is the XDA-Developer link for Rooting your Skyrocket.

They do the vibrate and reset thing over and over a lot. Sometimes the power button is stuck, sometimes the phone is stuck in a boot loop and you can't save it. Chances are it's under warranty still, call customer care and ask if they can exchange it for you.

Downloaded Odin3 v1.85 and unzipped to new folder
Start and run Odin>removed battery from Phone & reinstalled>Selected PDA in Odin and opened the TWRP file I downloaded earlier
While holding down up/down volume I installed USB into phone (already in computer)
Phone turns itself on and I get the Warning Screen with Yellow Triangle
Odin recognizes phone at ID:COM and lights up yellow
Clicked Start in Odin

and it stops..............hangs up
Above the ID:COM in the progress bar it is only at about 15% and stays there. After an hour it hadn't moved. I unplugged USB from phone and removed battery. Reinserted and tried again. Now when I plug in USB and phone powers>press the Up volume it gives me this
I still tried to run Odin like above and it just gives me same results...frozen with no progress past 15%.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Installed SuperSU-0.93-Busybox-1.20.2 on the internal disk of the phone and it worked too.
However, now I seemed to have lost the ability to get into googleplaystore app, and same with the FaceBook app so far. FB recognizes me but has a connection error. googleplaystore will open but won't let me move around in it. like it doesn't recognize me at all. I found this out when I went to install the Root Tester and Titanium Backup. Going through the internet and hitting install, it said "INSTALLED" but didn't do the typical download and drop an app on the folder.
Could be the internet here so I will try again later (no AT&T service cell service).Fuck you. We're going to Costco.
