If you are looking for something that won't be obsolete in the near future, then wait for the new laptops that are hitting the market soon with Intel's new haswell processors. These things are vastly more efficient and give much better battery life to boot.

        True story. Fuck Dell.

I diagnosed my overheating XPS17 after they couldn't. I was told that although I had an existing trouble ticket from when the laptop was in warranty, I would need to pay to speak to tech support since it was now out of warranty - by less than a week.

A few years later they admit to the problem after a class action suit is filed.

This is true. If you're looking for cheap, what I am about to recommend is not really in that category, but if you're looking for a gaming laptop at a decent price, then I would recommend Sager Laptops. I bought one about 4 months ago, and it's the fastest laptop I've ever had. It has 8 GB or DDR3 Ram, but is expandable up to 32, has 2 hard drive bays, an i7 processor, and a 3 GB Video card...all in a laptop. It's not small, but it is less than two inches thick at the back and less than one inch thick at the front, and has a ~15.5 inch screen. Runs everything I've thrown at it with zero issues.

Sager Notebooks is a premium gaming laptop brand for gaming enthusiast looking for custom gaming laptops and notebooks. Browse through our selection of best gaming laptops at sagernotebook.com

I bought my fiance a MSI 13" notebook and I dont really like it. The keyboard flexes, the power button broke (had to send it in and it took 2 weeks to fix). Overall it does not have the same sturdy feel of something like a Macbook or an Asus laptop.

Yeah, I'd go with Asus over MSI, given the choice.
