I read earlier in the year that they would start making some of there Mac line in the US but didn't know that some of it would be done in Texas. Good news for us but I wonder how this will effect the pricing of there already expensive products.

zero effect whatsoever, the apple tax will always be there.

I was thinking more along the lines of higher labor rights to manufacturer compared to China or wherever they were made.

I doubt it affects the price that much. For one, labor rates in China/Taiwan are rising. Shipping cost have been rising as well. Those are the two biggest drivers bringing manufacturing back to the US. Other factors include the theft of Intellectual Property that is occurring in China at a HUGE rate.

A lot of this is just low level assembly line work. The major components are make in other factories and a lot of those have automated manufacturing processes.

When you put that together with Apple's huge profit margins, then you don't see much of a hit from a profit standpoint.

Apple has seen their designs stolen in China. I'm betting this new factory is just a trial balloon and they will be bringing more manufacturing over here if everything works out.

What you said plus, no corporate tax in texas. I'm sure that's what attracted them to build here in the first place.
