      I'm saying that is fueling the dissent, I'm not accusing anyone in this thread of that. I haven't made my mind up if that's the case or not, but PS fanboys are definitely part of the drama. I have a feeling it's being blown out of proportion. But, regardless, if PS4 is releasing a console without giving the developers the ability to place restrictions then now is the time to pressure microsoft to drop it, so I also support it to some degree.

        Regardless, the check shouldn't be there as it is. This isn't an MMO, its a fucking console. There should be no fucking internet check on it period. Don't sit there and tell me you are fine with them controlling how you use it. Going to lunch now btw.

            Well, because I paid $7.95 for fallout new vegas, and if it was up to Bethesda, I would have paid $29.99 for it.

                  The inevitable problem we have is going to completely digital content. It allows the publisher to completely control the pricing, they remove the middle man. Having a distributor for digital content makes no sense. So, it seems we're holding onto an arbitrary mindset that is obsolete. Reselling used games only works when you have physical media, how can something be "used" when it has no physical form?

                      When you say distributor - are you referring to services like Steam?

                        In that same breath, dl copies must be cheaper since there's no media that's having to be produced. The caveat of an all dlable system is, what do your customers do who have slow/capped Internet?

                          Suck it. That's pretty much what I boils down to. I have this problem in Van Alstyne, although they are nice enough to let me do what what I want from 0001 - 0800 - so you could do it all during that time. (which sucks for instant gratification)

                          Although, I know it'll get tricky as it was pointed out to me before - some games/save games are getting retarded large.

                            Yes. What is their purpose when you're dealing with a console? There is none, they are obsolete. Steam makes sense for the PC, because there is no defined distributor, but for the console there is - microsoft. So developers/publishers can submit their content directly to microsoft, and microsoft acts as the distributor, allowing the developer/publisher to set the price directly.

                              Yes, they are cheaper, but no, they won't be cheaper. You're thinking that when they cut out the middle man, and the physical media they will just drop the price to what they were making. They will not do that, it's what the market will bear, not what they will accept. That's the attraction to publishers to adopt microsoft's proposal and cut out the distributor. Pricing really isn't a driving force in the gaming market. New games cost $60, that's just what they cost. Everyone is prepared for that. When was the last time you heard someone say "Well, I was going to buy Forza 4, but I decided to buy PGR 4 instead, because it was cheaper." Besides, the price is the same and it's more convenient for you, no driving to the store, no disc to lose, etc. etc. marketing, etc. etc.

                                I had this same discussion with a buddy a while back. I said the same as CJ. Sure it will be cheaper to make/distribute but will it be cheaper to the consumer? Hell no, thats just more $$ in the dev's pockets. What incentive will they have to lower pricing?

                                As far as the fanboy thing, I love my 360 and prefer it over my PS3 in just about every way. The controller is more comfortable to me, dashboard is more user friendly and I love Halo and Gears! And even now I rarely buy used games and have a solid internet signal 24/7. But Im not buying a Xbox One (still think that is a cheeseball name btw).

                                I just dont support the way they are going with it. I dont like that they are telling me I dont actually own that disk I paid $60 for. If I want to trade games with a buddy or let my kids take the game to their moms house for the weekend then I should be able to. I shouldnt have to worry about making sure that my console can check in with big brother daily and tell them if Im behaving and I sure as hell dont want a camera and mic on 24/7.

                                Like I said, I love my 360 and exclusive games so if anything, Im a MS fanboi but screw all the red tape that is going with the new model. This all boils down to who owns the rights to the media when its sold the public and I disagree with MS and the dev's. Does Ford or Chevy get a cut when I sell a used car to a private individual? No so why should these dev's.
