Wait, so with iracing, I could use the wall to correct overly late braking? Fuck!

I play forza on a 120" screen. It's a lot easier to see the track ahead.

Graphics aren't great (they've gotten steadily better over time), but that's not anywhere on the list of reasons to get it. The basic physics model, the precision of the track models, the constantly improving tire models, and the fact that the other folks are actually racing (as opposed to whatever you want to call what happens with GT5/Forza/anything else online) is why you get iRacing.

rFactor 2.0 or Simraceway may have better graphics, from what I've heard, but I don't have any experience with either.

Why did I make this thread. It's not helping my desires to say "fuck it" and spend money I don't need to spend.

I missed a DFGT setup on Ebay today, it went for $36, best I recall.

Should have jumped on that. Really trying not to spend any money right now, but that $40 set of Fanatec pedals on ebay is calling my name.

This is how I play F1 and GT5 (well, at my old house, different TV at new house). I'd really like to get into iRacing but I'd need to either build another main computer and make my old one the dedicated box for that or the new one dedicated as I can't really setup my cockpit at my desk.

How's that PVC holding up for you? Is it pretty sturdy? With the force the newer wheels are able to put out, I'd be worried about a ton of shake in the wheel tower.

It's actually really sturdy considering I had to use 1/2" smaller pipe than I had planned as I couldn't find everything I needed in stock. I have it so that it can come apart in three pieces, front and back half, and side bar/shifter base, but those three pieces have PVC glue holding all the joints so when I connect it all it is REALLY sturdy and I have never had an issue with it while playing.

You can make your own pedals also. I made a set using a fox quadrant several years ago.
