You know, the Nexus 10 reviews I've seen so far have been less than stellar. That's kind of disappointing.

$200 or trade for gun stuff or Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256GB....

BTW, Walmart has been selling reconditioned TAb 10.1's for like $249...my mom bought one online in Plano and went to store to pick it up. They didn't have any and gave her a brand new one for the reconditioned price. The manager had to do it because they didn't want to give a rain check and didn't want to hassle with the refund through the website. She was REALLY happy!

If the first random app I try to download is incompatible it's lost the only interest it has to me. I know android very well, and now that there appears to be more torrent support it's probably the best choice. That and I really want a high resolution. Does the Nexus 10 take SD cards?
What version of Win8 was it running?

No Nexus devices have expandable storage, at least the newest gen. Reason being is, Android 4.2.2 has multiuser support and to us msd, it has to be fat32 format. Fat32 is fine and dandy for mass storage, but at its inception, there was no multiple user(s) in an OS, hence there's no way to set permissions for file ownership on fat32 formatted volumes.

The full blown win8, not RT.

Every time I look hard at a tablet, I get disappointed it seems.

That's a good offer, let me think about it. See what the wife wants.

Me too. I can't find one with everything I want. If I were to buy one today, it would be a Nexus 10. But I think I might wait for the second generation.

It seems like it's always the next generation for me. This must be the third time I've seriously considered a tablet.

Best Buy gives you local admin rights to install apps on their hardware?

That particular error is usually a OS version dependency. Not likely the fault of windows but simply that the app wasn't made for what you were using. I don't know what app that was, so I'm speculating.

That said, I think the Surface Pro (and RT Pro) have a lot of potential but they are both 1st generation devices. I generally avoid 1st gen devices unless they have a low price point (like the HP Slate 7 I just ordered). I have high expectations for the 2nd generation of the Surface but I won't even consider it if they don't get GPS and LTE in there.

From an HP standpoint, I'm still not happy with our Win8 tablet devices with one exception. I got my hands on an HP Revolve prototype with an i7 processor. Holy crap it was sweet. The Revolve is a convertible tablet/laptop. It weighs about 3lbs and is 0.8 inches thick. I got to test drive one for a few days and I think that might be the first Win8 device I consider after Win8.1 is released. It comes standard with the core i3, but the i5 and i7 are also available. The SSD size starts at 128 and can go up to 256GB. It can also have as much as 12GB of RAM.

I need to get my hands on a production model but I was very impressed with the prototype.

I played with a Lenovo tonight and was able to install Firefox, which I wasn't on the last win8 tablet.

Asus they have a new 400C model, that is nice. I temped doing a RMA project for ASUS and Google tablets. I didn't like the Nexus 7, so if its anywhere close to the 10, no thank you (the 10 was done at another location).

Isn't there a plateau with processors in tablets right now? At least until the next Tegra 4 chips come out.

What'd you dislike about the 7? The QCom S600 is more powerful than tegra atm and they have thre 800 series in the works fire late this year iirc.

The Sony Xperia Z is looking pretty good. I'll have to get my hands on one first though.

Lack of a good camera, REALLY fragile glass, the damn battery they switched to disconnects, because the tray is meant for a bigger battery. The batteries have a very high failure rate. Majority of the reason the 7 comes in for refurb or RMA is the battery. The unit just seems to be a barebones setup.
