I had to buy a new lap top and I opted for Win7 as the OS. I've been running XP on my other machines for the last 10 years or so, so I'm still learning the new system. One thing I'm running into is a lot of my software that was installed on my old machine isn't working on the new one (Photoshop for example). I realize this is probably due to the difference in OS, but I figured there'd be some sort of compatibility in it. So am I screwed when trying to load an old version of software like Photoshop?

Two things to try.
1 If you have it installed, right click the icon>select the compatibility tab>place a check in the box to run in comp mode as xp sp3. Try your program.
2 If that doesn't work and your new PC has the umph for a VM, try this. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx

When I try to install it, it will run the installer but towards the last step in the process it says "Please load Photoshop disk" even though it is already loaded. I've tried to install it as an administrator and still no dice. This isn't the most legit copy so I have a feeling I might be f'ed here.
