Does anyone have a need for an old laptop? My work was disposing of some old Toshiba Tecra laptops. I'm thinking of installing Linux and selling them for a few bucks. Would probably work great to have in the garage or to run tuning software.

    Let me know!

I might have a use for one of them to run tuning software for my Buick if it has a USB port.

would it be worth surfing the web on the couch?

I guess I should have mentioned to make sure your software runs on Linux...

Normal web surfing... I don't see why not but hi-def porn, maybe. I'll get it installed and will test it out tomorrow. They have wireless, usb, dvd-rom/CDRW, 1Gb RAM.

Why bother installing it since I would format it and install WinXP when I get it home. This would only be used for a scantool that runs in Windows..I dont need wifi, lan, bluetooth, or DVD...I just need a REALLY cheap laptop with USB.

Yeah how much? Also I wouldn't need Linux either, I'll be installing XP too.

I assume I could use it for my Ford IDS software as well.

I see, that would be cool with me if you (or anyone) didn't need an OS. Only thing is that currently, I cannot login due to the previous setup so until I can login, I can't say with 100% certainty that things like the DVD rom works. I mean, they boot up but I can only get as far as the logon prompt. I had 6 but I took the RAM out of 3 to make the other 3 have 1GB each.

I'd take $75 each but I'd still have to install Linux so that I can honestly say everything works. I left them charging tonight so I'll know if the batteries are good in the morning. These were used by teachers/staff but still.
