Looks like they broke the encryption code, allowing them to load anything they want to on the box. Or they could use the hardware to run their own firmware to whatever end. With a decent firmware the PS3 could be a badass bluray player plus web enabled media center. Lots of possibilities.

I'm confused by the article I posted where it states that Sony couldn't solve the issues with a firmware update and that it would have to start from scratch with new hardware. Yet in the update it says that Sony will be releasing a firmware update to address the issue. Is this just posturing on Sony's part?Comment
