Do I need to back up all of my info in my phone to my laptop and make sure anything important is saved to my gmail account before changing to a new number, but not a new phone? Last time I did this it shouldn't have happened, but the guy ended up losing everything and it was a total PITA.

So long as the information is saved to a google account, no. It will automatically restore the next time you log into that google account. Besides, changing a number doesn't require a new phone anyway, so you shouldn't have any problems. The sprint people will just enter in the new number and it should be an invisible transition.How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Geor, you give sprint employees to much credit. I've had countless people come to me after they factory reset their devices for a completely unrelated problem.

I had trouble switching my old number from my evo to my note II. I had to switch to a new plan and when I tried to switch from my evo to the note 2. When I tried ti to switch my mom's number to the evo I was told that it wasn't compatible with my new plan. I was going to have two separate bills. I lost a lot of numbers transferring my contacts from evo to note 2.
