  • S3 replacement glass

So my wife already dropped and cracked the glass on the S3. I don't mind doing the glass and don't have a problem with that but my main worry is that the screen quit working. It worked all day with the crack but at night we noticed some discoloration in the picture. Now today there is no picture but you can hear it and know that everything is working, just no picture.

Do I need to just replacce the glass or is it more involved now?

Tell your buddy with the s3 to call Samsung about that screen. That has been a big problem and they may replace for free, if he pushes the issue.

this one fell, would that still work? Also, I rooted her phone so I guess I'd have to take it to stock?

Likely so. The screen is Gorilla Glass 3 and is supposed to be extremely durable, unlike how it has been.

I cannot promise you'll have success, but it's worth a shot. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

It is a fucking bitch to replace the glass, you have to be SUPER fucking careful because the amoled screen is flimsy as fuck and if you bend it, its done. Do not try to do it yourself unless you're super patient have a legit heat gun and have 1 - 2 hours.

Didn't read your full post. The amoled screen is very easy to fuck up, if its not working anymore its probably busted, its about $220 to replace the screen, digitizer and glass.

Thats why you shouldn't put Tile in your kitchen.

Oh, and since I can't see the screen at all can I even "unroot" it?

Yeah, you should still be able to get into download mode to odin back to stock, you just won't be able to see what's going on.

Please make sure you download the correct image for your phone. ATT / Bell / Telus / Rogers / Sasktel This method uses Odin to flash a factory stock image to your phone that simply has root injected into it. These are FULL stock and as such will...

DL Odin 3.7, boot to DL mode via Home+Vol Dan and power, Vol Up to confirm. Flash stock then perform a Factory Reset to remove Super User.

Yeah, try Sammy first and be persistent. If they adamantly refuse, go ins if you have it or have it replaced by someone who's competent I'm repairing them.

thanks, I will give it a try tomorrow and call them Sunday. also isn't there something I'm supposed to do to reset the count of flashes or roots? I think that will be the only thing I'm missing.

If they don't concede I may be getting with you to do it. I am thinking about attempting it myself but the screen not working at all has me scared its more than just the glass

Since I can't see the screen would it work to use one of the "jigs" on ebay to get it to where I can see it on the cpu? I used odin originally so still need to reset the counter as well. Makes it hard with no screen!
