  • laptop or tablet?

Im looking at getting either a laptop or tablet, mostly for internet surfing while on the couch, but I've also got hours of race footage from the gopro that I would like to edit down. I cant seem to get myself upstairs to the office for the hours it takes to make it happen. Maybe on the couch it will get done.

Would a tablet be worth considering? Im not doing crazy multiple camera sequences or anything, just taking a few seconds out here and there and compling them into one highlight vid. Would I be better off with a 10" or would 7" work, is there an advantage to one or the other?

Laptops, is there a smaller option on them? I hate the huge monsters some have become, and prefer them to be relatively smalll.

Any oppinions or options I should look into?

I would go laptop, I don't like the touchscreen controls for anything except gaming.

Yes, same thing but it has a touch screen. Laptop = touch pad, but not a touch screen. I equate it like this, a laptop can be had cheaper, a touch screen is great for women.

Seriously though, I have a nook color and use it for books and stuff for my kid, I have used an Ipad plenty and would not want to buy one. I have surfed the net on touchscreens without the keyboard and it sucks not to mention worrying about scratching the screen or spending extra money to protect it. Do you want to edit your video on a giant phone?

not for me, but I never ventured into android land.
My productivity on a tablet was shit compared to a pc, mouse makes a big diff for me.
I was always trying to find a way to make the tablet do what a PC does, why not just buy a pc and not have to fuck with all of that.

See above, doing it slowly is a hell of a lot more productive than not doing it at all.

I was just having this same dilema. Tablet seemed nice, lighter but limited in hd storage as well as cd/dvd drive, etc.

For me it just seemed better to get another laptop, plus cheaper as well

surfing the web and playing simple games = tablet

any kind of video/picture/sound editing or heaving pc gaming = computer/laptop

You just cant edit a video that well using apps and a tablet. You can do simple stuff but nothing more than simple cropping or applying filters.
