I use either AVG or Avast. Both work well, just depends on which user interface you prefer.

The developers are all working to be top dog. This is good for us, the end users.

I had heard that recently as well and was wondering if any of you would recommend it. I think I will give it a whirl.

Well thanks for the recommendation. I just formatted and loaded the Windows7 onto a SSD. Microsoft Security Essentials is my new antivirus

It's really not necessary on today's fast pc's but if you want a utility that has the ability, Ccleaner gets my nod.

It can be especially helpful for stopping progs that wanna start w/ windows.

8mpg, since you're usin an ssd, read over this.

I should note that if you're using a hacked/cracked copy of Win, MSE will eventually net you a "This version of Win is not genuine" warning.

It calls home ever so often to verify its genuine status.

My copy is legit, (on this machine) I am running an SSD as well and did not know that doing a normal defrag was bad... what happens when you do this? (I have done it several times)

ssds have a limited amount of read/write cycles on each cell of the nand memory, a regular defrag shorten the life of the cells buy performing a bunch of read write cycles.
